Season starts: 23rd March 2019
Alton Towers, the UK’s favourite theme park which last year saw over 2.3 million visitors. 2019 will see the expansion of the Alton Towers Resort with new stargazing pods. These minimalist pods are perfect for families, couples and friends wanting to experience a night under the stars.
Alton Towers Dungeon is the newest ride, opening this year. The ride will take you on a journey into Staffordshire’s darkest history. You’ll be sentenced by the Bishop of Stafford, fight against the plague and come face-to-face with the Witch of Burslem’s ghost! Spooky!
Alton Towers has something to suit everyone. If the new Dungeon is too scary, there’s plenty of other exciting rides that will have you screaming with joy. For the thrill seekers you’ve got last year’s ride Wicker Man, the UK’s first new wooden coaster built in over 20 years, along with the classic thrill rides such as Oblivion, Nemesis and Rita. For some family fun there is; the Runaway Mine Train which twists and turns, getting faster and faster, the Frog Hopper and the good old family favourite, Congo River Rapids. For the little ones, they will have lots of fun in CBeebies Land. Chessington’s Theme Park was one of the first themed amusement parks in Britain. With 10 themed lands ranging from Mexicana and Wild Asia to the Forbidden Kingdom and Land of the Tiger, and over 40 rides and attractions, it’s no wonder Chessington World of Adventures is a firm family favourite. As one of the UK’s leading amusement parks, Thorpe Park is home to over 30 thrilling rides, attractions and live events. Thorpe Park Resort is the perfect place for thrill seekers and features some of the UK’s most popular roller coasters.
With 5 of the UK’s top roller coasters on its island, Thorpe Park is known for its record-breaking rides. Launch yourself from 0-80mph in 1.8 seconds to a height of 205ft on Stealth, a coaster which has the fastest acceleration in Europe. Take flight on The Swarm, the UK’s first winged coaster. Face one of Jigsaw’s most twisted traps in SAW – The Ride, the world’s first horror themed roller coaster featuring a 100ft ‘beyond-vertical’ drop. Ride Thorpe Park’s first major attraction, Colossus, the world’s first ten looping rollercoaster. With so many ‘firsts’ and record-breaking rides, Thorpe Park is not for the faint hearted.
